Eligibility issues
limiting contestant to US alone does not make sense at all and cannot attract traffic. This venerable house consist of Hackers from different countries that are also professional more than those in United State. You want an open source, why don't you make it world wide. Unless I guess that Apache Geode software will only be used in united states and not in any other country of the world. Think about it and ensure this competition is not in vain
Thank You

Hi Chinelo,
I understand your frustration. While Apache Geode is open source, the sponsor of this contest is Pivotal Software, and our legal team only allows us to run the contest for residents of the United States.
I hope in future contests to be able to support more countries. However the rules of this hackathon are now set, and cannot be changed.

Greetings,
For what its worth, we have opened a new category for "Honorable recognition" for those who are not eligible to win a prize in this Hackathon. We still welcome your submissions and participation.
